Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dragon’s Dogma 2 gameplay shows even dark fantasy RPGs can have great ragdoll physics.

The gameplay of New Dragon’s Dogma 2 recently debuted, and in addition to still looking beautiful, it subtly unveiled some amazing ragdoll physics.

IGN has provided 18 minutes of brand-new gameplay, which you can view here. Arisen and a few Pawns engage some low-level opponents at the beginning of the movie. It uses a beautiful flaming sword and some skillful shield parries to put opponents on the defensive.

Approximately eight minutes in, following the defeat of a few Cyclops, a humorous exchange occurs with a Warrior. The player ascends atop a massive beast, only to be knocked off when the creature strikes since they aren’t holding on for dear life. Because of this, they are launched off the monster and land on the ground in a massive somersault, replete with hilarious ragdoll physics.

Ragdoll Physics:

If we end up getting caught off guard by some of the larger monsters in it. It appears that we’ll be witnessing this frequently. It’s not limited to just one occasion, though; there’s another footage where the same creature lunges at the player in a desperate attempt to strike, sending them flying over their head when they’re discovered.

In it, you’ll need to be aware of monster assaults if you want to avoid getting battered. Intriguingly, Capcom is using ragdoll physics in this way following Monster Hunter World and Rise. It didn’t have the kind of hilarious flips we see here. Perhaps there was a need for some physical humor in the desolate world of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Later this year, on March 22, 2024, It will only be available on PCs and newer gaming platforms. Check out our preview of Dragon’s Dogma 2 to see what we thought of Capcom’s follow-up after playing it firsthand.
